Jessica Lee (Jess)

Retreat and Volunteer Director

Jess’ meditation journey began in 2015 when she attended a MBSR course. Interested in continuing her practice, she came across BCIMS and, since then, has been an active participant in many of the Tuesday evening classes and other online offerings. Jess’ professional background is rooted in the anti-violence sector. In her personal and professional life, as well as her practice, Jess brings an intersectional feminist and anti-racist lens. She is committed to ongoing learning in these areas and to further understand decolonizing practices. As part of her new role, she will be a member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee, which is a natural fit and a valuable addition given her skillset and passions.

Stephen Flach

Director of Operations and Community Programs

Stephen began meditating in the mid-1980s, studying the Dharma in the early 2000s, and eventually found his way to BCIMS in 2009. Since then he has been volunteering, sitting retreats and, more recently, teaching -- an opportunity that he feels honoured to have as he continues to learn and expand his practice. Stephen spent a number of years as a touring and recording musician. He has a BA in Communication and spent 15 years working in post-secondary education developing skills in coordinating and designing programs. Stephen is enjoying bringing this experience to BCIMS while continuing to develop his meditation practice.
