FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

It is our sincere wish that access to the teachings and the opportunity to learn in community be accessible to all who are interested. We encourage folks to please apply for financial assistance should this support you to attend BCIMS’ offerings. We are grateful to the generosity of individuals donating to our Scholarship Fund. More information about the fund can be found here

For Residential Retreats:

Financial assistance is available for all residential retreats. For more detailed information, we encourage you to please visit the Eventbrite link for the retreat you are interested in. The deadline for financial assistance applications is shared on Eventbrite, and is typically two weeks before registration opens up to public. To apply, please simply fill out a Financial Assistance Application Form (the link is provided in the "Financial Assistance" section of the retreat's Eventbrite Page) or email registrar@bcims.org.

Currently, we are offering financial assistance of up to 50% of the retreat fee (in other words, you may request anything from 1%-50% off the cost of the ticket). We endeavour to meet folks at their request, but as financial assistance funds are limited, the number of scholarships per retreat is also limited. If the requests exceed our funds, applicants are entered into a random draw. To allow more yogis the opportunity to access support, there is a limit of one scholarship per year per yogi.

Applicants will receive an email response regarding their application before registration opens. If you apply after the application date and if scholarship funds are still available for this retreat, your application will still be considered.

For Non-Residential Retreats, Online Retreats, Events and Classes:

BCIMS offers registration fees on a sliding scale for our non-residential retreats, online retreats, classes, and other events. We encourage you to choose the rate that you can joyfully offer. No one is turned away for lack of funds. If you require additional financial assistance to attend an event, please contact registrar@bcims.org.

PLEASE NOTE: Some of the retreats held by BCIMS are sponsored by outside groups. If you are interested in attending a retreat not sponsored by BCIMS, please contact the sponsoring/organizing group directly for financial assistance information.

WELCOME to BCIMS

Indigenous Land Acknowledgment

BCIMS is based in what is now known as Vancouver, BC. With heartfelt gratitude we acknowledge that we come to you from the beautiful, traditional, and unceded lands of the Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) peoples, who live on and have stewarded this land for thousands of years.

BCIMS, as a settler-led organization, recognizes the ongoing benefits of the theft of this land and its resources to all settlers. BCIMS is committed to continuous learning about genocide, the history of colonization, and their ongoing impacts on Indigenous communities. May our practices today centre this reality as a call to action to support Indigenous peoples’ sovereignty and liberation more fully beyond the practice of this land acknowledgement, and move us towards non-harming, restitution, healing, and reconciliation.

Asian Heritage Acknowledgement

We would like to name and honour the lineage of the ancient teachings offered by BCIMS, and we offer our deep gratitude to the rich lineage of Theravadan Buddhist teachers whose wisdom continues to support our practice. These teachings originated in Asia with the Buddha’s teachings, specifically in Burma, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and India.
